I’m an American English and creativity instructor living in Taipei, Taiwan. I have been teaching ESL for over 10 years; I am TESOL certified in childhood and adult education; and I want to help you become a natural English speaker! I was born in South Carolina, USA. I studied Media Arts and Journalism at the University of South Carolina and The Institute of Digital Arts. I had always dreamed of visiting new places and experiencing new cultures. So, in 2010, I did just that! I moved to Beijing, China to teach elementary English. I was so worried, because I didn’t even know how to say 你好！(NiHao!) I tried learning through books and strict lessons, but it never helped me really develop. It wasn’t until I started talking with other Chinese speakers that I started to really see my language abilities improve. Now, I love rambling on in Chinese about my favorite night markets, foods (I can never have enough DouHua!), and travel destinations around Asia! After 4 years in Beijing, I wanted to help others that were less fortunate. So, I spent a year traveling different countries in Asia, providing free education through the Strange Tiny People project (www.strangetinypeople.com). I loved helping children naturally learn to express themselves! Finally, I arrived in Taipei 5 years ago, and have called it home ever since. I began teaching ESL to elementary, highschool, and adult students. I love teaching group classes, but I quickly noticed that many students required individual attention that can only be given through private tutoring, so that’s what I do now! I truly enjoy the connections I have made with my students, and even though some have gone on to become international writers and Julliard trained musicians, I still keep in touch with them.
